Tourists either go to El Nido or Coron in Palawan. When we planned our trip to Palawan we knew we wouldn't have enough days to explore both places so we chose Coron because 1) through research Coron always came out the most favourable and 2) it was easier to get to hotels from the airport compared to El Nido.
We stayed 3 nights at Corto Del Mar Hotel which is about a 30 min drive from the airport. There are shuttle buses at the airport and there will be someone outside the airport asking where your hotel is - just tell them and they will direct you to the correct shuttle bus (some hotels offer free shuttle service like Corto Del Mar). It's a lovely hotel located near a fishing village and local restaurants and bars - we recommend this place! You get to see a lot of the local life too :)
Day 1: Arrive in the morning and in the early afternoon hike up Mount Tapyas (not a proper hike - you're basically going to walk up loads of steps) and you'll have lovely views of Coron. Then explore the town (or the hotsprings if you have time).
Be sure to pick up all of the island hopping leaflets when you arrive at the airport because you will need to phone one of the tour companies to book your place for the next day (or you can book with one of the representatives there), they will arrange a van to pick you up on the day you want to go island hopping. From memory it was about £30 each for the tour.
Day 2: island hopping! It'll be the best day of your life. Most tour companies will pick you up from your hotel early morning and the tour will include a meal and water. Be sure to buy a dry bag for your cameras and phones! They will sell some for cheap in the town market or at the port just before you get on the boat (loads of locals will just run up to you to sell you their bags, remember to haggle!)
Day 3: We had planned to go on another boat tour, but the weather turned so no boats were allowed to sail! Instead, we visited a nearby beach when it stopped raining and then the hotsprings which is a highly recommended alternative if the weather turns. At the end of the day we found a massage place a few mins walk from the hotel so ended the day there!
100% you'll have the best time in Palawan. The views are astonishing.
Highly recommend reading all the blogs you can find on Palawan to build on your Palawan itinerary.
